Thursday

where's the thursday thirteen??

I posted my Best Things About Fall & Winter at the bad mom blog this week. Go there and enjoy. (Please).

Friday

it's all about meme

Thanks to my good friend Lisa, I have something to talk about today. Because frequently, I'm pretty quiet & shy...

This is the "Random/Weird Things About Yourself" meme. I've kinda been doing this all along, I think, but I'll be more specific for the purposes of this game. Enjoy.

First the rules:

*Tag 7 people at the end of your post and include links to their sites do I know 7 people with blogs??
*Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog got it
  1. I worked for two years at a drive-up fast food place called Kow Korner - but that's not the weird part. I had to wear a cowboy hat & bolo tie - also not the weird part. I cried when it closed & was torn down, and still avoid the street it was on in my home town; if we have to drive by there, I look away.
  2. I used to make up secret routines for songs ("Leader of the Pack" was my best number) and lip sync in front of my vanity mirror. For hours.
  3. I've written two e-mails to Fountains of Wayne. No response. Surprisingly.
  4. I smell things, a lot. Usually food & drink; I like to think I have a heightened awareness of what may or may not be poisonous. If you asked my best friend in college, she would remember me once sniffing a cow magnet. Something about it made me think it would smell like licorice (it didn't).
  5. I thoroughly enjoyed making up voices when reading the Harry Potter books. I just didn't realize in book 1 that Hagrid would be such a prominent character...
  6. When cooking or baking, I clean as I go. Obsessively.
  7. Sometimes I will 'air type' things people are saying around me. I started doing it in high school to practice my typing skills; now it just qualifies as a weird habit.

I will tag Elaine at Blog in My Eye and Katydidnot and Suz at The World According to her... And anyone else who wants to, jump in and get weird.

Thursday

guilty pleasures

Thirteen things that I can't resist, no matter how cringe-worthy they are environmentally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually:
  1. frosting in a can (by the spoonful)
  2. watching It's a Wonderful Life every year
  3. shopping at GAP
  4. Eminem
  5. zip-top plastic bags (I do wash & resuse when they're not too gross)
  6. Crocs
  7. break-apart chocolate chip cookies
  8. Rick Springfield
  9. Wild Cherry Pepsi
  10. alphabetizing my CDs
  11. Survivor
  12. movie popcorn, with buttery flavoring
  13. Christmas music all day long, starting today

*sigh*

More great lists at Thursday Thirteen

Saturday

what's so great about brown paper packages tied up with strings?

I'm doing it all wrong; Mrs. G told us to post our Favorite Things on Friday and to let her know. Well. I didn't do that but I still want to play, so here goes:

1. This guy (my first husband). Hi, love.

2. This kid, Miss Manners.

3. And this kid, the carnivore.

4. Nanaimo bars, heaven on a plate.

5. My 'boys, win or lose (of course the "favorite" part is easier with wins...).

6. Second husband option #1. Hello, darling, how was your day?

7. Fountains of Wayne, even though they hate me...(I am NOT a stalker).

8. Books, books, and more books
10. Broadway shows
11. Prada perfume (I wish you could smell this link)
12. My birthday
13. Shopping at Goodwill
14. And still this song, despite all the mean haters who mock me.

Friday

look what i found!

This is so serendipitously fun! It's Friday Fill-Ins, tailor-made for lazy ass bloggers like me! Enjoy! (Relax, I'm all out of exclamation points). By the way, I found this at Fond of Snape; visit her for witty words plus love for the misunderstood (and hot...What? Did I say that out loud?) Professor. He is one of my potential second husbands, you know. Alright then, on with the show.

1. The things I give thanks for this Thanksgiving are good health, close family, great friends, fun job.

2. My Thanksgiving traditions include chocolate-walnut pumpkin pie & the Cowboys game.

3. The best part about Thanksgiving is my traditions (see above).

4. My favorite Thanksgiving food is um, the chocolate-walnut pumpkin pie. Suddenly I seem quite uninteresting.

5. Trying in vain to make a great pie crust from scratch was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me on Thanksgiving.

6. After the meal, I hurriedly clear dishes so I can ignore friends & family watch the football game.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a presentation by StoryCorps creator David Isay, tomorrow my plans include getting my hair cut & colored then seeing "Lars and the Real Girl" with one of my best friends, and Sunday, I want to see my Cowboys beat the Redskins! After I sleep in...
